I wanted to let you know that Justin VanAntwerp (Plot 42) and I cut up all the discarded lumber today and were able to fill three of the green bins with compostable lumber. The remainder is stacked near the compost pile in lengths that need to be added to green bins after they are emptied. If you are up in the garden after Tuesday and have some time, fill up a green bin with some of the old boards. We had to remove a LOT of nails. Going forward, any of you who need to replace boards need to take out the nails, cut up or break down the boards, and put them in the green bins, or arrange to take them to the dump. We don’t really have anyone except us to handle this.
Pressure Treated Wood Needs to Go to the Dump: There are some cut-up lengths to the right of the tool shed that are pressure treated and need to be taken to the dump, if someone has a vehicle that could take 4’ lengths. There is also some pressure treated wood under the green house to the left that needs to go to the dump.
Green Bin Pounder: Finally, I made a “green bin pounder” that is up near the 15th avenue Green bins. If you use it on the weeds you put in there you can generally get about 1/3 again the space you need.
Path Weeding: We are down to just a few plots that haven’t weeded their paths. Please get on this while we have mulch or I will start calling you personally! :)
